Samuel James Turner competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 12 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Team Penske. His father, Jon Turner, is one of his team Penske teammates, along with Caeden Cataldo and Kaleb Dymock.

Turner is the oldest child of Melinda and Jonathan Turner, who are fellow competitors in the NASCAR Cup Series. He has two siblings, Madeline and Max, who are also fellow competitors in the NASCAR Cup Series. His cousins Melinda and Melissa Nelson and their uncle, Lyle Christensen, are also fellow competitors. Turner co-owns the charity Purple Spoon with fellow competitor Izzy Deschamps. Purple Spoon sponsors their cars and Izzy's older sister Ella's car in select races. They have also wrote a series of books together, Tom The Turtle, which also sponsors both cars in select races.

Clash

Turner was 14th fastest in 1st practice, 5th fastest in 2nd practice, and 21st fastest in 3rd practice. He started 6th in Heat 1, in which he finished 3rd to advance to the main event. At the main event, Turner started 9th. The Clash was reletively unchaotic up until lap 140 when Gavin Hawkins ran Turner into the wall, bringing out the first caution that was not the competition caution at lap 79. Turner and Sam McDaniel spun on lap 188. Turner charged through the field and ended up finishing 6th right behind teammate Kaleb Dymock.

Daytona 500

Turner was 14th fastest in qualifying. Turner started 7th in Duel 2.
